About Choice Theory

What is Choice Theory?

Choice Theory is a new psychology proposed by Dr. William Glasser. Choice Theory advances the notion that all behavior is based upon our choices and that the choices we make are based upon our needs and our ideals (which is stated "quality world" by Dr. William Glasser).

According to Choice theory:
- all we do is behave,
- almost all behavior is chosen,
- we are driven by our genes to satisfy five basic needs: survival, love and belonging, power, freedom and fun.

After 40years had past after Dr. William Glasser had announced the theory,
it had been used widely through the globe as an effective method that builds better relationships.

Why do we use Choice Theory?

Choice Theory tells; every change which occurs to a person comes from their internal
motivation, so we can not change others. Following this idea, we are committed to
create the best conditions for a person to learn and develop by their inner motivation,
as we cannot “make” a person to do so. We believe that Choice Theory based
environments would create the best opportunities for a person to grow, which would
eventually lead to create the best performances.

Choice Theory and Achievement

Achievement was the very first enterprise of delivering Choice Theory based trainings
in the business field. As Dr. William Glasser is our top advisor, we held his lectures
in Japan several times in the past. Also, most of Dr. William Glasser’s books published
in Japan are from our subsidiary; Achievement Publishing.
